This is an older report but I just thought I would post it for anyone that is interested in this kind of fishing.
"Today I took three guys river Fly fishing, Ked, Dave and Dave. I picked them up at Hotel California at 5:45 and we headed out to Mike Schultz' farm. This is a beautiful place with 5 miles of untouched river teaming with Machakas. Mike and Bob met us for coffee and fruit around 6:30 and told us all about the caves on the property, which is one of their main draws. But we were there to Fly-fish and the river co-operated perfectly. Mike took us as far upstream as he could in his classic Land rover and we hiked up another 3 hundred yards or so then fished our way down hitting every little pool and riffle. To say these guys are good fly fishermen would be an understatement. One of the Dave's spends 100 days a year fishing around the globe for as many different species as he can. Today he added a new species to his growing list and I hope to be able to help him add a few more. This river is full of fish and these guys pulled fish out of almost every single pool. The final count for the day was LOTS. Any one wishing to try this exciting new fishery should gear up with a two to four weight rod with any type line, we had three different lines and all three worked great. The fly s to use are small spider patterns, ants, wasps, brown clousers, brown shrimp or yellow exciters. Almost everything we tried got bit, just some got bit better than others. Sorry for not having pictures of the fish the battery died on the camera rite after this shot. Machakas are silver almost tarpon looking fish that have teeth sort of like a piranha. Although we never hooked one over a pound Mike assures me that there are four pounders in there. This is a truly magnificent place to fish with tons of wildlife to be seen along the way. When planning your next trip down you should set aside a day for this."
