Fishing is Good


Mornin’ folks,

We just held the No Sancocho Sailfish Shootout over last weekend (29 Jan-02 Feb)

The 28th and 29th we fished Jim Turner, owner of Casa Vieja Lodge, for a little warm up. Jim raised 56 had 52 bites and released 41 - Good angling Jim!!

The 30th. 31st. and 1st. was the Tournament. I had a great group of guys from Texas for the 3 days we raised 69. Of those 66 bit and we released 36. This is a great tournament for the local schools. Every angler put $20 in the pot when they missed a fish, which down here is called a Sancocho. For the 11 boats we donated over $5,000 for school supplies for the children. A tip of my hat to all the anglers who come here not only to fish, but to help the children of Guatemala. With 36 releases we finished mid-way in the pack.

If you want to fish with me please contact South Fishing or Casa Vieja Lodge. I want to do my best, so that all the anglers who want to fish with me, know where I am. Please pass the word to all your fishing friends.

Seas are starting to lay back down, after a rough water week (02-07). Fish are active and striking lures and 'hoos.

04-08 Feb:

Randy and Andy Sizemore, all the way from Kuwait City fishing with Capt. Jason on the "Twenty" - heavy seas reported - still managed 45 sails released in 3 days

02-07 Feb:

O'Dell party from Charleston & Savannah fishing with Capt. Eddie on the "Circle Hook" -

95 raised
88 bites
65 released in 3 days
one blue marlin = 500+ on the 50w

09 Feb: Capt. Chris on the "Rum Line" caught 4 for 4 on the fly, and Capt. Nico on the "Release" caught 6 for 10 on bait.

It's been brought to my attention that my name is still being used by the people I use to work for. My name is still on there Web site as being with them not true!!!!!. I was fired by them after giving 2 months notice - I work for Casa Vieja Lodge and run the "Finest Kind". I am no longer running the Captain Hook. So if you want to fish with me Please contact South Fishing. I don't believe in false advertizement, but I guess everybody doesn't feel that way. they still use a name that they own, mm? to my understanding they paid for that name, but is that the truth or he is not telling the truth and unless some one pays for it it's still theyr's,

4 days ago i call the CAPTAIN HOOK on the vhf radio and Capt Rony aboard the FINEST KIND responded, how in 2 months he cant figuer out what boat he is on? 2 moths ago they offer that Capt Rony will be in the merrit call BUDY BOY , Captain Ron Hamlin

Some body is selling fishing days under Capt Rony name and a guy name Capt Nico runs the FINEST KIND today , i think he is selling and not delivering, how can we believe?

Jose - Ron owns his own name, not Pacific Fins. The name Captain Hook is owned by Todd Martin, again not Pacific Fins. Get your facts straight!

You know full well the Buddy Boy is still in the yard, but as soon as it is ready, Ron will be on it! In the meantime he's on the Finest Kind. And Nico is on the Release. Everyone is in Miami for the Boat Show.

Jealous they have work and you don't? When was the last time Sam had a charter for you?
