Just when it looked like the season was grinding down, Capt. Tito on the Fishy Business -37 Jersey Cape got his anglers all wrapped up in blues, sails and bull dolphins. The trip for Nate Albers, Chris Fink and Eric Frank was one that was an auction item benefitting a private school in Jupiter. Anglers stayed at the deluxe Casa Vieja Lodge.
They are experienced anglers in So. Fla, but didn't expect this. On 06-07-08 May the boat raised 30 sails, releasing 8; raised 14 blues, released 5 and caught 40 bull and cow dolphinfish up to 38lbs! The first day the mates rigged 14 dozen ballyhoo, b/c the dolphin kept picking them off.
It just goes to show, how predictions can be soooooooo wrong. When most anglers are thinking of going north and west this summer, the smart ones will be headed to Guatemala. Ok, so it rains a bit, sometimes a lot. But you and I know that with all that trash, logs, etc lying about, the dolphinfish and bonitos are attracted to it and the billfish are just waiting their turn.
Largest blue caught in Guatemala was a grander two years ago and the average fish is 300lbs.
