Smile Homer Alaska Halibut in June??

I have some good friends who fly to Virginia from San Antonio every fall to fish with me.

I visited them when I went to a convention in San Antonio in October and they surprised me with an all expense paid trip to Homer Alaska for June of this year.

We are going to fish 1 day inshore Rockfish/Hallibut trip and 2 days long range Hallibut trips.

What can I expect???
What should I bring along???
What are the weather temps normally???

Thanks In Advanced!!!

Halibut fishing in June is very good. The guys that run the long range trips usually around Kodiak . I use to live up there and worked as a commercial fisherman for 22 yrs fishing Halibut and crab. The Black Rock fishing is Exc... just like fishing sea bass. If you get a chance do some salmon fishing on the river. It's a great place, enjoy every bit of it. Make sure you go to the Salty Dog on the Homer spit. I still own a house up there can't wait to go back and visit. Capt. Ken Mullen

I am hoping we can find a hog, but will be happy just getting out. It's all about having a great time on the water. I don't need a lot of fish, but would love to crank on a BIG OLE FLATTIE.

Ant other advice??

I know the boat, good group of guys. If you fish around the Barren Islands your chance's of getting a bigger fish are alot greater. On the days your not on the ocean drive up to Cooper Landing and watch combat fishing at it's finest along with a ton of bears. The Kenia River is also firing with Sockeye salmon, the best eating. I have a house right by the river so I use to fill the smoker all summer. Theres no place like Alaska, it's truely gods country. Take lots pictures. Capt Ken

Hey Man,

Here's a couple of pic's from Alaska. The Halibut both commercial and sport were caught in the Gulf of Alaska outside the Barren Islands what they call area 3A. I'll dig up some more pics and post them for you. Alittle eye candy before you go, give me a call if you want. Ken

WOW.. Thanks a lot Ken!!! I'll call for sure!!!

I am stoked and hope we have great weather and Big Fish...

I will be calling for a few tips to help me get a BIG BOY... I am sure the captain will do his best to put us on the fish, I just want to increase my odds on Quality over Quantity.

I wish we were able to get some Ling Codd, but he says it'll be a little too early in the season.

BTW: What kind of shard was that???
