Venice La. Fishing

The weather has cooperated the past couple of days for the most part and we were able to take advantage of it. Capt. Bob and I both got out on Friday. The morning started out with a lot of sharks and cudas for both of us, but as the day went on we were able to capitalize on a few yellow fin tuna. Capt. Bob had the largest going about 90lbs. Yesterday I had the Chase crew and the morning started out quick, except, we went 1 for 4 on wahoo in about 15 minutes and then it shut down. Most of the wahoo this time of the year are plus 50lbs. Lets just say I can't express enough how important it is to keep a tight line to be successful with wahoo. The bite stopped so we went searching for tuna. We found them but they were a bit finicky. Our first one hit almost immediately, the fight was on, and the second one which looked to be well over 100lbs. hit, but, in the excitement of the first fish, the angler took his eye off the line and the line got wrapped around the handle of the reel, the fish took off, the snap sounded like a .22 rife and the line came back and split the anglers hand wide open. He looked at me after this being the third fish he lost and said "I don't know what is wrong with me today". I was thinking the same. We did get the first fish in and it went about 95lbs. Capt. Bob took out Dr. Craig who is a long time customer of Capt. Bob, they had a good day as well catching a nice 90lb. Yellow fin and losing several others, hooking what he said to be about a 150lb. blue marlin, they got a few surface head shakes out of him, a little fight time and the line broke, they also got a mystery swordfish. Long story behind this one. The weather is starting to shape up a lot better than it has been, as long as it stays this way we will have some good catches of Yellow fin and Wahoo. We've got open dates for April and May. This week looks great weather wise and the fish are there waiting to be caught.
