OLD SCHOOL MUD & GRASS OFF COLORED WATER

Right on the grass line guys right near the deeper gut, cast right into the gut. On Monday fishing was explosive with roach Norton bull minnows tipped 1/16 oz. heads. The crew finished up with 23- trout and 9- reds, but caught 50-60 fish. At times, it was almost every cast. Capt. Jason stated “We found the diving pelicans, and walked right into them.” They were fishing an outgoing tide.

NO BULL ABOUT BULLS

Deep water near the POC jetties continues to offer our clients a playground for landing huge bull reds. This has been a growing sport for some of our guests, something I thought we would never get into, but the request have grown. October marks some of the best action one will find along the Texas Coast for bull red fishing.

RETIRED ANGLERS

The lodge is hosting 12-guests with a retirement community who formed a fishing and hunting club. All 4-boats on Monday kept the anglers busy with plenty of trout action over the flats. Live shrimp rigged under a cork worked best. We will be hitting it again on Tuesday…Reports to come.

WELCOME BACK “BIG POP MYERS”

It was my pleasure to have Big Pop Myers a well-known artist to the lodge with his daughter. I personally went with Capt. Nathan to complete a full day of flats fishing. Back several years ago, “Big Pop” painted a portrait of me wade fishing while landing a red. This year at the Houston Fishing Show, I will have this same commissioned painting in “Big Pop’s” booth. If you’re interested in a memorable painting of you or your love one, give “Big Pop” a photo, and he will turn that photo into an awesome painting.
