Like "Cattle Coming to Hay"
Thanks to AJ and his staff of 28-employees for trusting us for the third year. What a pleasure it was to see an owner treat his employees so special; I know everyone appreciated the fishing trip. The key to catching trout right now “location, location, and location”, but probably secondly is having patience. To say the least, the bite is so soft. Most fish we caught yesterday came from a mix of shell & mud. We’re defiantly in a transition period. With big water pushes and north wind, working some old school areas may pay off in the next few days. Redfish action was also slower on Wednesday with most red pulls coming from sand spots. Top water action is improving early and throughout the day. There is something magical about stalking a redfish of any size, especially when watching them work so close to you. When tides reach their peak height, these reds will “ride the big water” up into the marsh like cattle coming to hay, and if your top water is in the right spot, nothing is getting in the way of these fish, watch out, or get run over. I have attached a testimonial from a happy employee…“This was my 1st trip to Bay Flats, and it had been about 10-years since I have fished. Capt. Harold was wonderful! He is probably one of the friendliest, knowledgeable & nicest guides I have ever had. He was helpful, informative, and all around fun. Thank you all for a great trip. I can’t wait till next year!!” Misti P. It’s a privilege for us to be able to harvest game from the land and waters. At Bay Flats Lodge, our philosophy is to give back and protect our natural resources so future generations can enjoy the same quality of outdoor life that we have experienced. Bay Flats donates a portion of every trip back to the Lone Star Legacy Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation’s restocking program. We give back to the preservation of the bay system, and the sport for those to come. Captain Chris Martin, Owner/PresidentBay Flats Lodge www.BayFlatsLodge.com |
