After sitting out a few days at the www.birminghamboatshow.com It was time to go fishing and it was a day I'll remember. Not only to be remembered by me, but a day to be remembered by all, especially after you read this Lay lake report that took place on Tuesday, January 24 of 2012.

Fishing with Kyle Mabry's "Yellow Hammer Rig", (adorned with 5 pearl-colored flukes, rigged with two 3/8 ounce jigs and three 1/8 th ounce jig heads),
it would have been a big sack of bass in any tournament. A huge sack of 5 bass brought to the scales...weighing close to 25 pounds! But on this day I was only just fishing. And I was using only one rig, but adorned with these 5 lures, "The Yellow Hammer Rig." (See www.yellowhammerrig.com) did it again...

I could not actually believe I was standing in the Beeswax Creek parking lot on Alabama's Lay Lake with nobody to take pictures! The same spot, not to long ago, Michigan's Kevin Van Dam won the Lay Lake Bassmasters Classic!

I was there releasing 4 big largemouth bass (and a good solid 2 pound keeper) with only myself to share the excitement with, at the lonely boat dock on this cloudy day, with air temperatures near 70 degrees, in late January! So again, I laid the 4 big bass in the bottom of my boat and took some pictures, then let them go to live and fight again.

Here's the big bass weights I caught on that very memorable day ;
* Pictures - As you can see there is a 3 1/2 pound bass, a 5 1/2 pounder, a 6 1/2 pounder, and on solid 7 pounder (if there is a picture with this report, if not, see it on my Website - (and other lake reports) at www.fishingalabama.com and boy did I have a good time catching those big, Lay Lake largemouth bass!

* On Lay lake even in January with the lake's water cooling down there are always some cooperating bass to target! But first you have got to be there!
