The Fall frenzy is here. From now until around Thanksgiving is the best time of the year to fish Lake Fork for numbers. The water temp is in the mid 70's and should be good until it gets to around 60. As it gets into the mid to upper 60's the action will slow down, but the quality of fish will make up for the lack of numbers.
With the lake low and the hydrilla gone, overall numbers aren't quite as good as last year. But, the deep bite is every bit as good. We're catching good numbers and some good size fish as well.
Most of my fish have come from humps, points, and road beds that are as shallow as 6 feet on top to 25 feet on top. Most of the time, the fish are on the deeper edges. But when they are feeding, they tend to move shallower. So, those shallow fish are usually more likely to bite. But the deeper water is where most of the fish spend their day.
I try to fish for the shallower fish around deep water when possible. We're catching most of our deep fish on tailspinners, spoons, deep diving crankbaits, Carolina rigs, and drop shots. Occasionally, I will go shallow and catch them on Texas rigs, topwaters, or rattle traps around the grass (what little there is).
This year, the yellow bass aren't as abundant as normal and the white bass are everywhere. So, if you fish deep water with something that looks like a shad, you should get lots of action from the whites.
I saw a lot of floating debris on the water yesterday, so the lake is turning over. It doesn't seem to affect my fishing. But you can expect a dirty film on your boat.

I've been doing some night fishing around this full moon, and (because of the warm weather) it has been better than the day fishing this week. Texas rigs and spinnerbaits have been the best baits for nights. Most of our night fish have been in less than 10 feet.
