"GRASS LINE PREDATORS"

While many outdoorsmen are wing shooting or getting ready for deer season, there is something ceremonial about fishing in September. As of late, the trout bite has been only fair to good on top water plugs during the first hours of light. Switching to soft plastics worked slightly above the floor has been the best method for catching trout. The bite has been aggressive to say the least. While wade fishing for these trout over grass beds, focus your cast from the middle of the grass beds to the outside edges of the grass. The larger trout have been laying just on the outside edges where the sand meets the grass.

The next few weeks will offer anglers huge opportunities to boost their confidence while fishing artificial lures. This time of the year exist during a magical time in the outdoors, a time that will raise the bar for anglers wanting to improve their skills.

It was tequila gold Norton bull minnows tipped with 1/8-oz laser lock jig heads that proved best for Captain Harold. We welcomed Dallas F. Real Estate and guests for a wade fishing session. They finished up landing approximately 50-60 trout for the day, with 3 lb. class trout. They also released redfish up to 32” by Dallas F. The lodge welcomed PB Inc. for a two-day event; Captain TJ Christensen was the requested guide. Wow, the crew of four anglers had a time of their lives. They had full-limits of reds and one heck of a trout catch. Kenny N. of Colorado Valley CCA requested Captain Nathan from last year for a two-day session. The two-couples hit full-limits of reds with Nathan: solid boxes of trout were checked in as well. Captain Harold picked-up Rodger C. and guests and Harold showed the crew a solid day of catching for trout. They finished up with 29-trout 1-red on a shoreline. Props to Captain Jason Wagenfehr for putting his anglers on two back-to-back days of solid catching while wade fishing.

While I was away on an invited dove hunt in Sabinal for the special white wing season, I want to give props to our team of guides for doing a great job as they always do with a group of 13-anglers.
