Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 12/24/11
This past week was once again incredible, the bass are as active as I have ever seen them in December the reason is very simple the water temperatures are in the mid 50’s where normally we would be seeing low 40 degree water temperatures. The bass are still feeding on the bait and there is still a tremendous amount of bait showing all around the lake.
Generally by this time of year the bass are suspending and most of the bait is dying off from the extreme cold, but so far not to be! The bass we are catching are fat like footballs from feeding on bait and they are very active. We are still fishing chasing type lures like traps and spinner baits and crank baits.
We had some great catches with numbers well into the 30’s on a daily bases and best 5 catches in the 20 lb. range. We also caught around 15 or so stripers along with the largemouth everyday and that made for a lot of fun and action!
