**** 1-18-2012 ** ****** REEL FISHIN ADVENTURES BY Ripp ****** Well in Mississippi today is da last day of reel rifle season and tomorrow we start back with our muzzle loaders till Jan. 31st. but we all know dat da muzzle loaders dey let us use now dares knot much difference. da one shot don't make much difference to me cuz most of da time i use a single shot rifle anyway. stop what you doin for a minute and picture dis, its da second mornin at 26 degrees with a heavy heavy frost and calm, no wind at all just chrisp cold air. walkin to da stand you sound like a bull dozer goin thur da woods, let me told y'all i'am like a frickin Ninji when i'am sneakin thur da woods headed for my stand cuz i could sneak up on anyting i want to and i couldn't be quite at all, dem leaves was 4 inches tick covered in a heavy frost as dey lay on da ground. now from da edge of da woods to my stand i done da best i could do. now dis was da 3rd. hunt in dis stand and da 1st. 2 hunts i saw nothin, after da 1st. mornin hunt i walked around some and was really surprised at how much fresh sign i saw so i cut my walk about short, i now have made up my mind i was comein right back here on my evenin hunt. i wanted to get in da stand a lil earlier to just in case dey wanted to walk a lil earlier, i got on my stand at straight up 2 o'clock, No knot in da mornin, i give dat up a few years back even doe sometime it seems like a good ting to do but dats another hole story in itself. everyting was on da move in da woods but deer and at 4:15 it was over for me. i never saw any other wildlife or heard anyting after 4:15. OK, i done made up my mind while sittin on stand dat i was gonna give it one more shot in da mornin cuz dat was gonna be my last hunt for a few days, just couldn't see knot goin back dare with all da fresh sign. once again i walked in right at day break, i'am knot a walk in da dark mornin hunter, never was. i like to sneak in right at day break so i don't have to use a light, everybody has dare own way of huntin. after i got to my stand and got set up like i like to do i started to see a few squirrles runnin around den i saw one coon and a couple of turkeys matter of fact i heard dem turkeys fly down off dare roost and about 10 minutes after dat i heard what i taught to be a deer jump da fence, now i'am on high speed scan mode in da direction i heard da noise and i saw just his horns movein back and forth as he was allso scanin da woods, dat coon had just walked right in front of where he jumped da fence so i'am tinkin he got a wift of dat coon, now it seemed like forever dat he was standin dare still and i mean still and all i could see was his horns and sometime a ear twich, dat started to make me a lil nervous cuz dem horns looked pretty nice and i didn't know which direction he was gonna move, if he would have went back over da fence da way he came i would knot get a shot on him, i gave one lil grunt on my call and i see his head pop up and turn towards me den he started a slow slow walk towards my direction, man dat ting was nice from what i could see and it was grownin all da time. he walked up about 65 yards and i new it was time to lay him down, he never had a clue i was in da world, i had a perfect neck shot and when i hit him with dat 308 he hit da ground like a ton of bricks and never moved again till i started to pull on him. now he stopped dat bullet from goin wide open to a dead stop in about 14 inches, da bullet never came out and i retreived it when i skinned him. he was a pretty nice buck and he weighed in at 205 pounds and he was run down, he was givein dem girls hell. man i would have liked to kill dat ting a month and a half ago. he was poor and really run down and was still on da prowl when i killed it. we seem to tink it was 4 1/2 years old, he was scarred up pretty good on his back, his side, his back end and even had a broke brow tine. i drug him to da fence line den walked to get da truck but once i got da truck to da deer i couldn't load it by myself. gettin old ain't no fun, like y'all know i been havein some lower back problems and knee problems plus my big truck has a cover on it and once you have da deer by da horns you can't back up with it cuz of da cover, you would have to pick it straight up and lay it down on da tail gate and by myself with a 205 pound deer, i couldn't close da deal, maybe a few years back i could have done it. i tried all kind of ways till i hurt my back and knee once again den like a smart man i called for help. i will have me one of dem racks dat goes in da receiver hitch for next deer season or maybe before dat. once again it was another good trip for me. like all ways i hate to see da season come and go so fast but it is what it is. see y'all later. ** 1-12-2012 ** ****** REEL FISHIN ADVENTURES BY Ripp ****** Y'all don't forget what i told y'all, if you send me and e-mail and you don't here back from me in 24 hours Please send it again cuz i'am still gettin 400 hundred to 550 e-mails per day, Thanks with dat help. Looks like its tryin to get a lil chill in da air once again. its tryin to dry out all so, ground pretty wet around here, been rainin for 2 1/2 days. our pond is tryin to fill up and look like a pond once again and knot a mud hole. it really looks big when filled and looks like dare is a lot more surface area, pretty sure da fish like it to. our deer is still pretty much locked down, did a good bit of walkin yesterday and jumped one deer, seen zero on stand, now dis mornin i did see 2 small deer and all i could tink about is how Tender dey would be on da smoker and over a lil pile rice and grave-v but i let dem walk to grow a lil more. da wind right now is blowin about 25 miles per hour out of da North most-lee. suppose to be clear and in da low low 20's tonight. dat will put a lil chill on your ass if you knot dressed for it cuz da wind is blowin 25 mile per hour with higher gust, now dats January weather for ya. just finish pickin and puttin pine straw on top of my water pipes and water meter so da freeze don't get it. dat pine straw works wonders. most of all da pipes in da yard are a couple of feet down so dey pretty safe. now let me told y'all about dis here travelin machine of mine, dats right i'am talkin about dis here lap top and it works pretty good when i'am away from da house cuz i booked a couple of trips yesterday and today. my lap top man got it fixed dat when i type someting on dis here machine at da Huntin camp dat when i get home its allready on my big machine, dats pretty smart right dare. well i got to run for now cuz its time to get dressed for another round of tree sittin, might have to sit on da ground in one of many of our Forts dis evein cuz dem trees is swingin back and forth pretty good, da fall won't hurt near as much either cuz in da chair you only about 2 feet from da ground. hope y'all knock one or 2 down dis evenin.
