First trip to Boudreaux
![]() Aftyer making 8 knots all night and most of the following day, we came upon the biggest thing us South Texas boys had ever seen, Noble Carl Boudreaux ![]() We circled the rig and lo and behold there was a huge school of tuna. I landed the small one and my guest strapped on a good one. At 8 knots we were unable to burn the fuel in both barrels leaving one on the deck during a good bit of our fishing. ![]() Shawn went right to work getting some steaks ready for that nights grill. It never tastes better than grilling it right after it stops wiggling. ![]() My favorite angler trying to figure out what the straps are on a bucket for. We saw a nice marlin swimming around a weed bed but couldn't get it to eat. We had one on for about thirty minutes and lost it at the boat before we saw it close enough to guess size. I think it could have been my personal best. We had another one hit but instead of dropping the bait back I reeled up fast and managed to scare the sh*t out of him and lost my chance. I get older but not any smarter. It was a great trip and if TIFT is canceled, I am going back this week. It was worth the fuel.

Are they allowing boats to fish near the rig consistently now? I'm thinking of making the trip out there next week, and would hate to make the long run for nothing. Thanks in advance.

I have been back a couple of times since then and have always been able to fish close to the rig. During the day when we trolled close to the rig we get barracuda so we have learned to stay out a hundred yards or so. At night we try to chunk as far under the rig as we can for tuna. If you display a modicum of commonsense in regard to supply boats and the like, you shouldn't have any problems.
