BOOM SHAKA SHAKA BOOM-TOP WATER ON
Bay Flats Lodge Report
by Captain Chris Martin
According to Captain Harold, "Over the last three days you would have found me throwing plastic in the lakes of Matagorda Island and the vast reef system of San Antonio Bay. Quality fish although sparse are showing up in the marsh lakes. On the other hand, one can find scores of trout are readily fooled by TTF soft plastics rigged on a 1/8 oz jighead. Best colors have been roach and plum/treuse in the flats minnow profile retrieved in a medium to quick fashion. This pattern should hold true over the next several days."
Well, Captain Jason found full-limits of trout with a mix of reds for Scott H. party. They were fishing from the boat with live bait. Shallow oyster shell was the main target. Captain Nathan hit a brick wall with Scott H. party on day-2. According to the Captain, "We fished everywhere for little to show." They were wade fishing with artificial lures. Captain David worked the Rick B. party as a 2-boat session along with Captain Harold. Limits of reds and a few trout in the box were the results for Captain David.
Ken H. and guests enjoyed their day wade fishing with Captain TJ while punching TTF and tops. They managed a fair catch, and getting time at the lodge with Ken H. was nice, he has been coming to BFL for many years. Captain Rick worked oyster shell in SAB to find a fair day with the trout action. He was also using TTF in the flats minnow roach/chartreuse color with Robert C. and clients.
Tuesday brings a 6-boat schedule with focus from the jetties for bull-reds to the flats for trophy trout & reds with artificial lures, to the oyster shell with live bait. The weather in the evenings at the lodge is awesome to say the least.
