The Flats "Windy Fishing Day"
Bay Flats Lodge Report
by Captain Chris Martin
Seadrift, Texas
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter with their love ones. As most of you know the wind has not laid down for several weeks. Speaking of wind, the wind gusted to 35 mph late afternoon on Monday as we welcomed returning customer Bob & Linda with their cousin from North Carolina for a full day; around 1:30 pm Bruce D. & guests checked in for an afternoon session with 2-boats. Captain Harold worked hard to keep Bob & Linda on red fish in the back country, "We stayed out of the wind much as possible, and the boat ride was not bad in the 23-ft. shoalwater cats." They finished up with near limits of reds. Captain TJ & Captain David struggled with late afternoon wind gust to 35 mph. They only managed a few fish for their efforts, but the guys had fun.
Tuesday we welcome 20-guests in for a "Windy fishing day", focus will be red fishing the back country. The weather forecast for Seadrift is mostly cloudy, a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms late in the afternoon. Breezy. Highs around 90 inland...in the mid 80s coast. South winds 10 to 20 mph increasing to 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon. The water temps are 78.1 degrees with 36% moon illuminated.
