Towing my boat to NC

I know there are previous threads about the Law and Towing in NC. I'm just trying to get the latest info here. I will be pulling a tandem axle trailer with approx. 4500 pounds of boat, motor, and trailer from GA, where the trailer is registered (with a tag). to the coast of NC soon. Just wondering if there are any restrictions I should be concerned with.

Thanks very much for any information.

Towing

The House and Senate passed bill 2167 which would allow boats and trailers to travel any time and day without a permit. 114" and below would not require a permit.

The Governor vetoed this bill because he said it would endanger kids on school buses and would lead to an increase in DUI's.

Boat owners are being ticketed for this law that has never been enforced before. Small boats up to 23' are receiving citations for being oversized.

If you live in North Carolina please contact your representatives by e-mail and phone calls and ask for them to return to Raleigh to overturn this veto.

We have to stick together on this one because having a piece of paper that cost $100 a year is not going to make the roads safer.

Governor Easley is just an asshole He cares nothing about North Carolina tourisum or recreational angling. the whole legislature and senate passed the bill with a 100% majority. He is the only asshole that has vetoed it, just because he can. Hopefully they are going to defeat his veto in the legislature. He is a prick and he doesn't care since he can not be re-elected. He has a few questionable land dealings along the coast as well. Thank God I didn't vote for this worthless politician.

Easley is a crook. He has more than a few shady deals. I hope he gets prosecuted.

Keep calling

Just got off the phone with the lady at Mr. Hackney's office she said she has received alot of calls concerning HB2167. It's important to call his office today and show how important the bill is to the state of North Carolina.

Call all your boating friends and have them call as soon as posssible. Tell the lady that we want our representatives to come back to Raleigh to pass this bill.

The number is 919-733-3451.

House and Senate are going back into session tomorrow to look at this and it looks like they will kill the veto of the bill. As I understand it, they would let it die and not return. Only when they return, do they kill the veto...here is hopeing...
