Tex's Tackle, Wilmington fishing report 10-21
Inshore
10/21/2011
Speckled trout fishing continues to improve. Fish up to six pounds have been reported from Carolina Beach all the way to Topsail. Most fish seem top be in the two to two and half pound size though. Best lure choices have been Mirrolures, Doa shad tails, Rapala X-Rap jerk baits in size ten and Betts Halo shrimp. Falling tide seems to be the best time to fish. Flounder fishing is good along with redfish. Live mullet and shrimp work well along with Berkley Gulp. Blues have thinned out a bit but are still around. Spots continue to be caught in the waterway and surf.
Near Shore
10/21/2011
Some False Albacore have been off the beach in the 2-5 mile range. Flounder fishing is good in the ocean using spro Bucktails tipped with a Berkley Gulp Shrimp. Seasbass fishing is closed to possesion but there are plenty to be caught. Grouper can be found from about 70 feet of water on out. King mackerel fishing has been sparodic but should improve as the winds die down.
Gulf Stream
10/21/2011
Recent trips to the stream have produced some wahoo and blackfin. As the water cools off, fishing should improve. Several sailfish were caught last Sunday offshore for the few boats that made the tripp.
