Thumbs up STRIPERS IN THE RIVER

Yesterday, thursday, fished up around New Bern, bridges and cuts. STRIPERS ARE HERE! Mostly small fish, 15-22 inches, we did catch a couple in the 11-12 lb. range though, ended up with 37 total. Only had two guys fishing, I picked a rod up occasionally to pick one or two, most of the time just un hooking fish and listening to the drags scream off the Stradic/ loomis combos.... It was a beautiful day, light nw winds, cool yet sunny. Most of the fish we caught again on Fin-s baits, brighter colors though. (PINK....!) 1/4 and 3/8 ounce gig heads. Concentrated most of our efforts in 10-18 ft. of water. Seemed to be plenty of fish. Had bites in 8 different stops. We were suppposed to fish offshore today, friday, tomorrow and Sunday...however the 20-30 kt. NE winds thought otherwise......two of my other charter boat buddies fished off there yesterday, one had somewhere between 30-40 bites the other had 45-55 bites. BIG ASS YELLOWFINS, handful of wahoos and kings. I feel I have been out to fish a blue marlin tournament with a 6 lb. trout spinning rod, and one hand and one leg tied up behind my back with the way the weather refuses this year to let the RUN-OFF take our toll on the yellowbellies. Things will change though, ....if not, sell the big boat, sell the Contender, sell all the offshore tackle and forget all the dreams, cause I am destined to catch PINFISH! One day......we will return. Capt. Brian.

Best Catch: The next bite on a jig.
When I saw striper in the River. I was hoping for a Danville report, but wasn't dissapointed with what I saw. Nice report.

Don't worry, I'm coming down tomorrow to fish with you Sunday and have already packed the fishable weather in the truck.

Thinking back, on a la Nina year, do you remember what kind of weather pattern we had. I was trying to remember, but I thought El Nino brought us good weather for the year(opposite of the Left coast) and la nina brought us crappy weather for the year?

They say this is a la nina year.

patience my man. Good things come to those who wait. Only need "luck" now, which is just having the ability (which you more than do) and appying it when the situation presents itself. It will happen........ soon. Hang in there. Purty work on the stripers.
