Well, we fished out of Mystic, CT on Arctek Jim's "Boney" this weekend.
Saturday it was Myself, Jim, Ron (from NJ), and Kevin. Sunday we had the CTF Blackfish Bash Tournament, and it was Myself, Jim, Ron, and Brad ("Possum", Jim's website designer). Roy had his boat also with Kevin and Bob on board.
Saturday we headed out in nasty weather, as expected. Rained all day, and blew from the East around 15-20 kts with higher gusts, 25 kts or more. Seemed to get worse as the day went on too.
Regardless, we had an excellent day of Toggin', with many large fish coming over the side, largest that day was my 11 #'er you'll see below in the pics, with the ragged tail We had several 7 to 9's as well. Great action all day! We had a great time, with it getting a bit silly at times LOL....I'll post the "silly pics" after all the others LOL.
Sunday we again headed out in less than comfortable conditions, yet it turned out better than forecast. This was the CTF Blackfish Bash day. Had a west wind, but no rain this day. Blew pretty stiff 20 kts most of the day, but the water wasn't as bad as expected. Laid down a bit early afternoon. Sun came out for brief periods here and there.
We had a challenging day this day, as the wind/tide worked against each other and we developed a vicious swing, which at times, had me pushing the boat away from the rock pile with Jim's deck brush!!! LOL
We managed a great fish early, Brad caught what we estimated to be a 9#er early on. That one turned out to be a tie for second place in the Bash weighing in at 9# - 2 Oz. Brad hadn't been Toggin' in about 15 years, he was pretty happy, and pulled some nice fish in this day!
We lost the great bite once the tide/wind screwed up our spot.....we ended up re-anchoring on the other side, and, although not as hot a bite, we still managed a good amount of nice fish over the side. Just had to work a little more
All in all, we caught a crapload of Togs both days, and had some nice meat at the end of the weekend! Went to the CTF Bash, ate some good food, there were some nice raffle prizes given out, and we cleaned all the fish up (actually, Ron, Kevin, Roy, and Bob did a whole ton LOL, even for others).
An 11# Tog has been around a LONG time, due to their very slow growth rate.....not sure why his tail was ratty, but they do live in the rocks and hard bottom, he was an "old salt" LOL.
