Question SKA SWANSBORO NC MAY 23 -24TH- ROLL CALL

A new adventure for me this year, looking forward to seeing what the SKA is all about. Meeting more of the southern sides of the teams and having a great time!

Who in for Division 2? Or Swansboro

Looking forward to meeting some new people!

Really really hoping and looking forward to get to the Nationals in Biloxi!

Team Big Dog in the house!!!

Coming from NJ, wow! Team Magic Stik will be at the Swansboro tourney, weather permitting. We will also be fishing the majority, if not all, of Division one events. If you happen to see us, stop by and say hello. Good Luck to you!

Welcome aboard I missed your intro post. Same to you best of luck!
Yup coming from nj out team is built from up and down the coast. Boats owner Chuck Arnold is with the factory for the NE and has fished the circuit before, just not in a while. Me I am new to the whole thing. Looking forward to something new, ASA is boring me to death up here

SKA has a lot more boats than the asa and all of its tourneys together should be great.

Maybe if there is enough members from this site we can have a little get together for some food and drinks somewhere.

How is the SKA with the weather? Do they call it? Its seems to be feast or famine up here. When the weathers bad we are still out there for some dumb reason and we all really shouldn't be. Boats and us can take it but one wrong curve ball by mother nature or misfortune can make your day really bad!

Oh I am going to need a tour guide of some sort or at least some help or directions on food. I have seen signs for Swansboro don't think I have ever been there tho

    Morning coffee?
Where to eat dinner? I will be getting in town either on the 19th or the 22nd
    Boat munchies?
    Hotel?

Having never fished the ASA, it seems as though the SKA is about the same with the weather situation as the ASA. i have seen very few tournaments called, a few postponed, and a few pick your day (Sat. or Sun.) to fish. Since the fish are still further offshore, for the most part (some are on the beach b/c they are being caught on the piers) the weather is a big factor for us in this tournament. We mostly fish the tournaments out of Morehead City, and are very familiar with places to stay, eat, etc. there; however, we are not very familiar with the Swansboro area as a whole. In fact, we will be staying and fishing much further south for the tournament. Sorry I can not be of more help to you on the Swansboro area, I would love to. I tell you what tough, if you would like I could put you in touch with Team Liquid Fire (Mark Henderson) who is very well versed in the Swansboro area, as they reside there. Let me know!

I just found this on the tournament website:

"The one-day king tournament will be fished May 24, weather permitting. In the event of poor conditions, the tournament could be postponed until May 25, a Sunday, as happened in 2006."

yeah be ready to run south and jump the frying pan shoals for that tourney if you stay in swansboro. most teams will stay in southport that night fish and make the run to the scales that afternoon having someone drive the truck/trailer back sat. morning.I just sold the center console getting out of tourneys with gas so high plus entry fees, calcuttas, twt's i bought a carolina classic figured i could run offshore a couple of trips for what one tourney is now going to cost when all is said and done.
good luck the last couple of years good fish have come from the frying pan tower area, cabbage patch area and a couple of other spots offshore a little bit. great tournament
going to be interesting to see the turn out with gas prices.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. Haven't even started to plan for NC we have a ASA tourney up here this weekend one at a time. Once this weekend passes then on to the next.

Not sure what the game plan is totally or where we are keeping the boat or any of that stuff we have someone getting the boat to point a to point b for the tournaments this year. Basically he gets the boat to the location, all the gear together and on the boat anything repaired, fueled and in the slip ready to go.

I know it sounds cheesy but its a huge help to us and it was really needed with our work and tournament schedule. Some being in NC one weekend and back in NJ the next day its impossible.

We were talking about the prices on fuels the other day and its going to be interesting for sure and we may even have a cut back tourneys ourselves. These stupid ASA tourneys cost 1500 bucks a pop fuel bait and entries with no running involved. Add a 210 mile run and goes way beyond sensible in my mind.
