Go to Hilton Head which is only 30 minutes away for some awesome cobia fishing in the river. The cobia come through thick and they range anywhere from 20-70lbs. Tell him to give these guys a shout.

These guys are the best. The offshore fishing is ok,but you gotta run to the moon and a gulfstream trip on the Judith E is gonna be around $3,000.00 when it's all said and done. I'd put in a couple days of cobia fishing if I was him.

you wouldn't have caught much right now, but march brings in all the cobias looking to spawn.

The savannah river is pretty nasty. I can't believe people fish in that thing near downtown.

Fishing In Savannah

I am guessing the Savannah Fishing trip is over because it is 27 March. When fishing inshore at Savannah Redfish are always active in March and it is still erly but there is a trout bite also. I fish the Ogeeche River just south of Savannah and the Wassaw sound or the ossabaw sound. both should be holding inshore fish. and are close to Downtown Savannah.

Also a short drive out to Tybee ISland can be productive from the beach but i would fish the rock jetty that is by the lighthouse and not the fishing pier.

lots of small shark can be caught on light tackle if u just want to catch and release some fun and the same is for whitting (although whitting hit hard and are tasty little critters).

The Sheephead bite is in full swing and black seabass out at the near shore reefs is in easy reach of any small boat. I havent been out to the gulf so i cant say what is bitting out there.

I am in Iraq until June 08. Until then a good source for Savannah fish reports is www.missjudycharters.com

Once i am back I plan on devoting a lot of energy into making up for lost fishing time.

I am attaching some pics (I hope) of some fish from late Feb 07 and the first week of March 07 which was right before I deployed.

Anyone interested in fishing In Savannah / Ft Stewart area or wishing to take recent Iraq veterans fishing please feel free to contact me.
