Went out in search of some redfish today and was not disappointed. I love to fish for reds with artificial baits, so I went equipped with many different lures to see what they wanted today. I threw inline spinner baits, skitter jigs, spoons, shrimp posters, you name it, but what they wanted was the D.O.A. shad tail. This bait never ceases to amaze me.
I rigged the shad tail a little different today. I recent found some weighted worm hooks and I used these to rig the shad tail weedless, like you would a plastic worm for bass fishing. The action was perfect and being weedless made it perfect for working around the oyster bars and grass flats.
Once again, the pearl color was too much for this 30-inch red to resist and man was he fun. It just amazes me at times that you can catch a fish like this in less than 2 feet of water. Totals for today were 3 redfish and a flounder for just a few hours of fishing.
