[Fishing Report]

8-18-11 whites and big dolphin
We took off on a marlin trip today with Outer Banks vacationers Aaron & Kristin, Lisa & Christopher, and Colum all from MD. It took a while for us to locate some fish, but once there we saw eight ome into our spread. Although we had some bad luck holding on to them, we did get three to the boat for release. A highlite of the day was when we hooked a pair of 25 & 30 pound gaffers. The dinner order was filled. What a beautiful day we enjoyed.


8-19-11 more good marlin fishing
Bill Carmen hosted some friends from Tidewater and from the west coast for a marlin fishing excursion today. There were some thunderstorms south of us this morning but they never made it up to where we were fishing. During the day ten white marlin entered our spread and five were brought to the boat for release. We also spent a couple of hours chasing a fast moving school of tuna that popped up....managing to land two out of five bites. Fresh sushi tonight for the family gathering at the Outer Banks beach house. Thanks to Julie, Carter, Joseph, Brent & Kristin, and Bill for spending the day aboard Point Runner. 8-20-22
Lindy, Karen, Preston, Paul and Milton enjoyed a very calm day on the ocean. Only wish marlin fishing had been better. We landed in an area with lots of birds and bait. Trolled around for an hour or so without a nibble. Then we worked up to where other boats had some action and caught two out of five bites for the day. Boats reported from 0 to 8 billfish today. To the south of us, the tuna fleet found some fish in the afternoon and several good yft catches were made. Thanks for checking in.

The last couple of trips we have been white marlin fishing and looking forward to the upcoming Virginia Beach billfish tournament. Now we have concerns about Irene crashing our party.
