    Pier Pin Rigging for Macks

Hello Gentlemen...I will soon be heading to Hatteras to do some pin rigging. The sea striker rigs use 1/0 with thin wire. Last year...I broke off a king mack halfway through the fight. This was my only fish of the week. Not to happy...I want to be well prepared this time. I would like to make my own king mack rigs. I was wondering what brand/size hooks I should purchase. Also, what cable(lb. test???) would you suggest. I was thinking a couple of rigs with mustad 3x 1/0 to 2/0 using the coated cable made by afw. I make most of my own lures/rigs from mako rigs to sea witchers. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks...JZ

#6 single strand wire and #4 trebles.....should be no reason to break off a fish, pin rigging should only be using 3-4 lbs drag AT MOST

that happens sometimes. but i've used heavier wire or single strand and watched people using lighter wire getting bit all around me. its a trade off.
