Pelican Sportfishing report Nags Head 8-23
Some days you got to run far to find White Marlin. Today was one of them. The 60 mile run was worth the trip for Tom Postlethwait and his friends from Delaware. They caught and released 7 White Marlin out of the 10 seen. Not many boats from the OBX fleet ventured that far but those who did caught a few Whites. The Tuna fishing to the south was OK but not quite up to the numbers caught the 3 days previous. The Pelican has days next week open. M-W-T-F.

We received a nice note from our party yesterday. Worthy of sharing with our friends and clientele. It speaks for itself.
Subject: The Pelican
I wanted to thank you and Lee again for such a great trip yesterday. Though we didn’t find the elusive marlin, catching the mahi and the tuna was a blast, I loved seeing the whales and the porpoises, and a slow day fishing beats any day at work! I appreciate your working so hard for us to have a good time and hope to get an opportunity to fish with you again. Be safe and thank you!

Today was a tick better. The Pelican went 1 for 3 on White Marlin, watched a Blue one chase some dolphin, caught a few Mahi Mahi and a Tuna. Other boats Marlin fishing fared well. High boat caught 7 Whites today. The meat fleet is also doing very well. Arch has a couple of days open next week and if you insist, he’ll target the Tuna. Otherwise you’ll be Marlin fishing!

Slower today. While the Pelican and crew did boat a few tuna and dolphin the elusive Roundscale Spear was not raised today. A few bill fish of a similar species were seen closer to the traditional “tuna” water. The weather was nice and calm with a few showers. Back at it in the AM.

Still have some days open next week. Come on and book the Pelican. Otherwise Arch will be forced to fish a local pier.
