Another great day of fishing out of Oregon Inlet! Some of our inshore fleet caught cobia and amber jacks and our nearshore boats had very good spanish mackerel catches today with a few bluefish in the mix. Offshore we had a couple dolphin limits (10/person or 60/vessel) and a few yellowfin tunas. There were several sailfish releases reported as well by the fleet.

Fine weather and fine fishing. Lots of fair size school dolphin and some nice gaffers. Good size yellowfin tunas along with the dolphin. Bill fish started off in good numbers earlier, slacked off a little and are back as we aproach the big season for them towards the middle of this month and well into the fall. One boat caught some big eye tunas as well as some yellowfins. The party included Ryan Podlutky and Ralph Morbit from Pennsylvania, Jim Clark, Brad Clark and Amanda Savage from Delaware and Mark Turner from Virginia. Their big eyes weighed 163, 136,110 and 106 pounds. Miss Amanda Savage brought her fish, a 136 pounder to the gaff in 45 minutes, that is very good time. She said her fish fought hard. Inshore boats had good catches of tailor bluefish and spanish mackerel. Some false albacores were also caught. Open boats got in on the tailor bluefish, spanish mackerel and false albacore. Some of our open boats love to catch false albacore on fly rods. The false albacores are so fast and dynamic that it must be a challenge.
