NC Ocean Isle Fishing Center report 11-11

    "My Buddy Joe" | Tiberias - 22' | 11/11/11

Mr. Joe had family coming in from Cincinnati, OH last night and wanted to put them on a few fish. Mr. Joe's brother Bob and nephew Bobby drove all night arriving here at 4 a.m. this morning. They were on my boat by 10:45 a.m. ready to fish. A bit chilly today with a stiff North wind blowing, but the trout are bite'n! We started off with a few small fish and then found a few keepers. Mr. Joe's brother Bob was convinced that the bite was good enough he could catch one on the fly. IN THIS WIND? He caught one on the fly today! Unbelievable! Meanwhile, we kept picking away at them. Bob finally gave up on catching another on the fly and picked up a spinning reel. He made a few cast and caught our best trout of the day. Close to 4 pounds...I guess some people just have all the luck. Mr. Joe caught a nice red which peeled off several yards of 6 pound test line before surrendering. Awesome day on the water! I love it! See ya on the water!

Pictures below...First pic...Bob, Bobby, Joe...Second pic...4 keepers still in the livewell that we dicided to release...Third pic... What we kept for dinner!

    "Trout Regulations" | Tiberias - 22' | 11/11/11

Some confusion going on with the speckled trout regulations right now. I made some phone calls and with the help of Capt. Jeff Williamson we have found the best information available. Click on information for current regulations on speckled sea trout. This is North Carolina Regulations, so if you are fishing towards Little River jetties, keep in mind that is South Carolina waters and regulations may differ. Good Luck! See ya on the water!

"Biloxi fishing report" | OIFC World Cat / Carolina Cat | 11/10/11

The whole gang has made it to Biloxi to participate in the SKA Nationals. The scene is neat down here. Barrett and I tallied it up last night and between Tuesday and Wednesday we have run over 500 miles in the boat -- lots of looking and getting the lay of the land-- our choice, not a necessity. Tuesday we ran across the state of Louisiana to the famed West Delta (110 miles one way). The area is very neat and pristine. The really cool part is running through all the marshes and bayous of lower LA. It is a natural preserve of every variety and a great display of how nature and man interact (lots of oil industry down there). Trust me, nature is doing just fine. Anyway, we scouted out the West Delta, found some neat stuff and have that logged in the memory bank. Wednesday we ran due south of Biloxi and prodded around from 100 foot depths to 300 foot depths. The one way run to the farthest point was around 80 miles. We had a good day and found some some good info. The weather both days was very good. A strong cold front passed through Weds PM and its blowing Thursday but looks to lay out for fishing Friday and Saturday, Friday may be a little sloppy in the AM. Anyway, everyone is busy collecting bait and getting ready. I just hope the fish bite like they have been; for everyones sake, but especially the guys that have never been here before. To experience the Biloxi bite is just a requirement, it is awesome. Here are a few pics to wet your appetite from last couple of days. I'm posting a new video to our You Tube account too - pretty funny. Check it out - http://www.youtube.com/user/oifc1 - if its not up now, check back, uploading now.

    "Work'n on the Trout" | Tiberias - 22' | 11/09/11

The trout fishing remains steady. Fish are showing up in all the usual places. Docks, canals, and deep holes in the creeks are all producing fish. The deeper holes and dock pilings seem to be producing the larger fish. Lots of small fish showing up in the canals, both OIB and Holden. Docks along the ICW are producing some solid fish in the 2 to 4 pound range, with a solid 6.3 pounder coming out from one dock. Shoulda, coulda, oughta been in the rodeo!

Again, live shrimp is hard to beat, but even harder to get right now. Artificials are doing well as the bait has thinned out quite a bit. Gulp shrimp, DOA's, Bass Assassain Sea Shads, and C.A.L. soft plastics in chartreuse combinations have all been working well. Good Luck! See ya on the water!
