Ocean Isle Fishing Center Fishing Report 6-29-10
"Saturday-" | OIFC 1- 36' | 06/28/10
Grant Williams of Moore County caught his first spanish mackerel Saturday while fishing with his friend Richie Boles aboard Richard Boles Contender the "Toes Up". Grant and Richie were fishing with the old folks, all of whom grew up together.
Richard is a great friend and customer of the OIFC who fishes most of our tournaments. Richard provided us with the picture.

"Inshore Bite" | Speckulator - 22' | 06/27/10
Like Kyle said in his report yesterday, the inshore bite is still on. This is a pleasant surprise because, especially with flounder, as the summer heat takes over a lot of flounder move to the near shore reefs. But Kyle has had several successful charters as has Capt. "J Dogg" Jeff Williamson.
Not to be left of the mix is local inshore legend, Brandon "Bone Crusher" Sauls. He and Clay Morphis, another inshore expert, hit the waters in our area yesterday and slammed the flounder and red drum. Brandon said he had shrimp and pogies, which have been plentiful at the mouth of the Shallotte River and the Sunset Beach Bridge. However the fish turned their nose up to the shrimp and hit on the pogies.
Perhaps if Brandon keeps trying, he can make the top of the Rodeo Leader board. Also, don't pay any attention to the background in the picture, I'm sure that isn't where he caught his fish!

"Saturday Grouper" | OIFC 1- 36' | 06/27/10
The crew of the Fishmeister Yellowfin, Dean Spatholt, Mike Kress, Dennis Watson and family headed east Saturday. They began fishing in 85 ft of water and worked their way to 125 ft, handling 7 ft. seas. They caught Gags, Reds, Pinkies, Sea Bass and released a monster American Red Snapper.
Many thanks to Laurie Hall for the picture and information.
