Ocean Isle Fishing Center Fishing Report 5-16-10
"New OIB inlet cut" | OIFC 2- 27' | 05/15/10
Went out at low tide and checked out cut where dredge has been taking sand for beach renourishment project. WOW! There is a cut lining up with the last house on Holden Beach closest to intercoastal, out to sea buoy that was 10 feet deep at low tide in most places. A big congrats to Town of OIB, Congressman McIntyre, and Captain Brant for working together with the Corp of Engineers to get them to make use of the beach renourishment project to dredge us a fabulous new inlet cut. It's the best it's ever been! Will post the co-ordinates soon as possible and hopefully soon as the dredge is gone, Brant can get permission from Wildlife to relocate the buoys.
The existing inlet is virtually closed up at dead low, so this new cut is very important to all the boaters using Shallotte Inlet. Great work team!!!!

"Yellowfin bite on the beach" | OIFC 1- 36' | 05/15/10
Not to throw spears at the Far Out Shoot Out fishermen, but just weighed a bona fide, verified 28lb Yellowfin Tuna caught at the Christina Ledge by the Carribean Soul, captained by Jamie Milliken and crew. They were King fishing with dead cigars when he hit the prop wash bait. The Christina is almost in sight of land, just beyond the 390/390. They also caught a few kings at the 390/390. Congrats to Carribean Soul on an extrodinary catch!

Flyfishing - Spanish Mackerel!
Monday, May 10th, 2010

Picked up some nice Spanish Mackerel on topwater flies. The bite was on hard for about an hour, early morning. Spanish were launching themselves out of the water trying to inhale the topwater plugs! This one took all of my fly line and half of the backing!

Adamada Charters Fishing Report 5-16-10
May 13th and 14th Charters on ADAMADA
Took a group from Columbia out, started fishing at the Southwest Bank, just off the ledge we hooked up on a wahoo, 61 lbs, good way to start the day. Trolled up to Georgetown Hold, picked at the dolphin, ended up picking up seven. Decided to try the Greenstick, trolled for about 10 minutes and had an explosion on number 3 hook. Pealed line off real fast, the drag was set at 100 lb. fought the fish for 1/2 hour, got it about 30 feet from boat, got a good look at a 100 lb plus tuna. It started running and just pulled off. Got a few more hits and got one blackfin in the boat.
Took another group from Colombia out, started at the Outcrop, got into a nice mess of dolphin, picked up 13 there all about 15 lbs, went out with the fleet to about 700 ft, put 3 more dolphin in the box. Trolled back to SW bank, put out the greenstick again and the blackfin were on it hot. Picked up 8 blackfin, one 31 lbs, four 26 lb, one 20 lbs and 2 were 18. Really had an awesome day.

Tuna Fever Sportfishing Fishing Report 5-16-10
5/14/2010
Okay - I have no deets yet but Billy called to say he got his (their) first limit of the season! Maybe spring has sprung!! The boys started out where they left the fish yesterday and came up with nada...a quick run to the 700 produced and steady flow of fish in the whales and fat ones too 50 and 60 pounders. Go Toby!!! Deets later. Still open next Thursday (hint hint) Tight Lines!
5/13/2010
And a great day was had by all - by all in Toby's group anyway. The boys headed east of the Inlet today - bet you already knew that! - and the risk paid off big time with a near limit of yellowfin!! 17 in all and they ran between 30 and 60 pounds...nice fish!! Spreader bars and ballyhoo and a steady pick all day...3 then 5 then 5again and another 2 then 2. Tight Lines!
