Thumbs up NC Trailer law veto over written

Senate passed the override 39-0!!! and the House vote was 95-8. Overwhelming in favor of the ones of us that pull trailers. Maybe now we can get back to normal for the coast. Now as I under stand it, the new bill, HB2167 and S1695 , has some new trailer requirements that we need for our trailers, one of them is getting them inspected I think. As I find out more I will post them and if any of you know more about these bill please expend for us.
I formally would like to thank out Senate and House Representatives for reconvening to take care of this matter as well as those of you that took the time to contact your Representatives to look at this very important matter...

For anyone in the know regarding this bill or it's history:
My understanding is that Federal regulations prohibit any state from allowing a trailer width greater than 8 1/2 feet without a permit.
I assume that the Federal regulations apply only to interstate highways and Federally funded roads/ bridges.
I guess my question is: Do the Federal regulations apply only to Commercial vehicles leaving private vehicles exempt from the Federal Regulations?--- is this how NC was able to pass this state legislation?
Will private boat trailers > 102" width be able to use the Interstate system in NC without permits?

Ok Glenn, let me see if I can clear some things up as I understand them and I don't know all of it. Commerical vehicles do fall under a diffrent ruleing. In NC we have a NC law that will not allow us from pulling a boat (any trailer) over 102", after sunset till after sunrise, during a holiday such as this weekend, starts 1/2 day before the start of the holiday till 1/2 day after the holiday is over. In other words, for Labor Day weekend, no towing from noon on Friday till noon on Tuesday. Same for 4th July, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Easter and the messed up part of it is all 1 day Federal holidays M.L.K. and so on, 1/2 day before and 1/2 day after...there is more but I do not understand it all but I'm trying...
