Ocean Isle Fishing Center Fishing Report 7-09-10
""Mountianeers"" | OIFC World Cat / Carolina Cat | 07/08/10
First cast for each angler produced a flounder, making for a double hook up. We managed a few more flounder, which were all released. I just did not have it in me to release the 4 lber in the picture below. Captain has got to eat something! Flounder remain to stay consistent, but other fish have stayed elusive. Trout and red fish have been hit and miss at best. Spanish are usually a fish you can always count on, but they are even getting harder to entice. We did hook some red fish today and managed a spanish, but still not the bite I expect. Looking forward to Fall time when the water cools a bit, then hopefully the fish will really eat! See ya on the water!

More Testimonials
Steve- I just wanted to say thank you for everything you did for me while I was visiting Edisto Island. It was our first trip there and it will now be an annual trip. As I am sure you are aware at this point I am a novice boater to say the least. Upon our arrival I learned that I could not keep my boat at the resort. Everyone at the Edisto Marina was extremely helpful in accommodating me and my family with our boating situation. As we were prepared to launch I had difficulty in getting the boat started, which as luck would have it you were there to assist me, and actually educate me on where to fish, and the locations. Although you were a charter captain I think it speaks volumes of your character that you would give up your honey holes to strangers that you had just met, and who were not booking a charter through you. Thanks to that information we had the fishing trip of a lifetime. We were exhausted from all the fish we caught and amazed of how many large runs we had that lines were broken after fifteen minute battles with the unknown.
As you were aware my older boat broke down on that Sunday and I was left stranded in the water. However, a made one phone call to you and you came out and towed my boat on Sunday. I really appreciate it you helping me loading my boat upon returning to the dock and going out of your way to store my boat on your property free of charge, which enabled me to have my brother in law bring my John Boat down. I can't thank you enough.
After the trip of a lifetime I then headed home and was about forty minutes away from the Island when my trailer on the boat broke down and was not drivable. I placed another call to you and again you were able to call several places and arrange not only a tow, but a place to have my boat repaired and stored until I am able to come back down and pick it up.
As you know I live in Virginia in the DC Metropolitan Area and it is hard to meet people such as yourself who are willing to take care of total strangers and extend the courteous you extended to me and my family. Sir, you are truly a Southern Gentlemen.
I look forward to my next trip to your neck of the woods and you can count on us booking a charter with you. If there is anything I can ever do for you I would gladly be willing to return the favor.
Sincerely,
Chadwick S. Oxley

Fishing Report 7/8
Beach fishing was on the slow side. A few sea mullet were caught on the south beach until grass moved in a messed things up. There were some sea mullet, spot, and croaker on the Avon beach but thats about all that I heard about.
It was a little slow for the inshore boats also but a few spanish and blues were taken.
Things look a little better offshore with dolphin, wahoo, and amberjack.
The billfish bite was pretty good with Hatteras Harbor reporting one blue marlin, three white marlin, and a sailfish.

Tuna Fever Sportfishing Fishing Report 7-09-10
7/8/2010
I gotta do it again - I am leaving town tomorrow morning to go back to Connecticut and get Kate from camp and I have to leave you guys on a sour note. The Tuna Fever just didn't get hers today - a couple dolphin...that was it. And Maxwell is fit to be tied!! You know how he can be and if he wasn't I'd worry because it would mean he doesn't care. All I can say is that I hope tomorrow is a diamond! And I will fill you in on everything when I get back on Monday. Tight Lines!

What tuwas a promising morning for Richard Jones and his friend turned out to be nothing but a poor day of fishing. The crew started out on the 838 and 340 and they found the grass and picked as good as they could as they fished up to the 819 and 370 then back again. From that journey they found two bailers. At least they got the skunk out! From there they trolled up to the 800 and 480 where the water cooled off a bit and trolled around the rest of the day looking for life. They did manage one 50 pound tuna in the box but definately a dissapointment...Billy didn't say but I am just hoping Richard didn't pray for a chance to prove what an excellent sportman he is! He certainly got his chance! Tight Lines!

Dolphin if you do!! Looks like its a mahi kinda summer for sure...well it is July at least. 834 and 410 this morning and a limit of dolhin first thing..lots of current for the boys and a 75 to 79 degree change and then it was off on the tuna hunt. On the 788 and 530 Maxwell found a hard edge at 85 degrees on the 100 fathom but the boys found nothing but bonitas. Then they got the call from a canyon fisherman from Long Island (thats longIsland to those in the know) and he said there was an amazingly huge pod of whales and dead squid and slicks and well, everything you'd want to see up north but inside - nothing but bonitas. Well, the boys will have plenty of dolphin bait for tomorrow! Tight Lines!

Thursday Fishing Report
We weighed in a nice 35 lb Cobia caught in front of Ramp 43 this afternoon AND "Hang On Steve" said he dropped a 60 pounder and saw quite a few more so they are still in the area. Those walking to the point have done well catching Bluefish, Spanish Macs, and Puppy Drum on metal. It's a pleasant walk and NO, you do not have to stay in the water. Bottom anglers did well today catching small Sea Mullet and Spot. Rumor has it that the Sound is starting to produce some decent Flounder and Trout - Grumpy.
