Boss Lady July 5th
Posted by Savanna Callahan on July 06, 2010 at 13:58:11

Another great day of fishing off Cape Hatteras between the Monitor wreck and Diamond Shoals light tower. Lloyd's wife Heather and Her cousin Jenny wanted to catch fish and yes the did. They caught the boats limit of dolphins early and then we went off looking for the billfish. No luck on the billfish, however we had one window shop the dredge while dead boating a large gaffer dolphin. Give captain Shane a call at 252-216-5908 or give Odens a call to get on on this incredible meat fish bonanza.

Tuesday Fishing Report
It was a beautiful day down on the beaches in Buxton. The blazing sun made the fisherman few and the fish fewer. There were some blues caught today up in Avon and down off ramp 55. Offshore I heard more reports of limits of dolphin. With this light wind going southeast midday tomorrow I'm going to make an appearance on Avon pier in search of a tarpon

"40.6 lb king" | OIFC 1- 36' | 07/07/10
Captain William Parker of Ocean Isle Beach, Duwane Wood and stepson Caleab White took to the high seas on Duane's 23 ft. Keywest yesterday in search of kings. Caleab caught 3 with the biggest being 18 lbs., and a shark. William caught 2. Duwane has been catching the big one that always got away..until now! He caught a 40.6 lb king! William said they would have released him, except he was already dead when they brought him along side. The fish were hitting naked pogies about 25 yards. back. Their catch totaled 98.7 lbs., which paid for their fuel and fed some hungry mouths.

Captain Chris Dew and Captain Chris Eckert on the World Cat were joined by Dave Sedney, Dan Sedney, Ron Remirez and Jeff Coffman all of W.Va on a charter to Christina's Ledge. They had got the bait, pogies in 8-10 ft of water just off of Ocean Isle. The group brought back a nice cobia which was caught by Dave.
Captain Chris Dawson aboard the Carolina Cat fished with Chad, Seth and Danny Correll as well as Jeff "I wish you were here" Bowden, who joined them in spirit..an inside joke. This group bottom fished the Jungle and caught a 43 lb cobia.
Captain Zach Faulkner and Captain Jeff Williamson, aboard the "Get Floor'd" fished with Bobby Usher (Atlanta), Erik Usher (Ashville), Richard Lehnhoff (Charleston, Sc), and Will, Sam, and Nick Smith (Knoxville, Tenn). The group fished about 8 miles out using naked pogies and landed several kings.

"Three Generations" | OIFC World Cat / Carolina Cat | 07/07/10
Fished a half day with Bill Sr., Bill Jr., Rocco, and Gino...Papa, Daddy, sons, and grandsons...Nothing like seeing the tradition of fishing being passed down from one generation to the next. I enjoyed watching the two boys 4 and 6 put a pounding on some flounder and a red drum early this morning. Then moved to a black drum hole that only produced one fish. So we opted to head for the beach to catch some spanish since the tide was slack. Action started a bit slow, but I finally located a good school just in front of OIB pier. The boys went to work on them and as I was making one last pass through the school a nice spanish nailed the spoon. What a great way to end the day. See ya on the water!

Wednesday Fishing Report
Sincere thanks to all for the Birthday wishes. I had a great day on the beach and will get the candle on the cake when the better half gets here for a visit. Spanish Mackeral off Avon Pier and Ramp 38. Bluefish were scattered up and down the beaches. Sheepshead at the Jetties and those fishing bottom rigs caught Sea Mullet and Spot. Hang on Steve landed a 50 pound Cobia in front of Ramp 43 and said he saw several more. A few Trout
and Flounder in the Sound. Water temps on the beaches are now staying in the 70's and that should produce sunrise and evening bites of Spanish. If you need an excuse to come to the beach, check the temps expected for the next several days - Grumpy.
