Fishing Report 7-3-2011
Had Curtis Grant from Phoenix, AZ returned for more NC off shore fishing with Eric and Joel. Went to the Gulf Stream looking for Mahi. Started in 120 feet with flying fish everywhere. After a short period we had a small Mahi on the short flat line. Had good action in the morning with fish every 20 to 30 minutes. Joel caught the largest when a 20 Bull came in a crushed the short spreader bar set up. We trolled out to the deep to try out jigging for the Jacks. Joel caught a monster Almaco pushing 50 lbs. After a couple of triple headers the guys had enough and we went looking for some Grouper for dinner. Had 3 nice Scamps after a few drops on some inshore ledges. The afternoon bite slowed again (seems to be a pattern lately). The SW winds kicked up for the bumpy/wet ride home.

7-1 report
Had Andrew and Lourdes come down from NY for a live bait trip for a day. Headed off shore with plenty of bait to feed the AJs. 1st drift Andrew landed and nice 10 lb Gag grouper for dinner. The AJs we not the wide open bite but we eventually got them fired up and had good action in the morning. Andrew/Lourdes were amazed at how hard these fish fight in the shallow water. Then at around noon again the switch was turned off and the bite shut off. We went jigging on some ledges and had a few small fish and short grouper. Also had a school of porpoise visit the boat.

Fishing Report 6-30-2011
Had a 3/4 day live bait trip with a family from Charlotte, NC. Caught plenty of live pogies in the dark and headed off shore 20 miles. It didn't take long and had the 1st double header of AJs. We continued to hand feed them bait next to the boat for the next hour until everyone had had enough pain. Tried slow trolling for kings but not luck. Went out to a ledge in 80 feet and tried for grouper but only found sharks. I ocean seemed to shutdown after lunch. Ended the day with a few kings strikes but couldn't keep them hooked. Sorry for got the camera again.
