Only had one fellow in my charter today, ran up river looking for the Tarpon I left chewing the day prior, and to no surprize.....there they were......I MEAN THERE THEY WERE!!!!!!!! Pods of tarpon ranging anywhere from 10-50 fish per pod and seeing 5 and 6 pods at a time. This lasted for 6 hours solid. After carefully setting the anchor, 8 perfectly dressed baits were pitched right into the thick of it. About the time I got the last rod set,.......we hooked a TRIPLE HEADER! Ended up catching two of them and jumping the other off. Once recovered, I casted the next wave of baits at them,.....BAM, double header, caught both of those rascals. This continued for 6 HOURS NON STOP!! When it was all said and done, we released 7 Tarpon and jumped off another 7. That's right, stuck the hook in 14 of them today. HOT HOT HOT fishing. Will give another update when I get in tomorrow. If it is a 1/3 as good as today and yesterday, the crowd will be pleased. Take care, good fishing. Thank you. Capt. Brian. Extreme Measures Charters.
Looking for anyone interested in getting some of this action. Shoot me a mail back or you can reach me while fishing tomorrow on my boat cell. 252-504-0219. Thank you.
Brian, sounds like you're slayin em as usual. Wish I could be there but I'm stuck out here in Wyoming until next weekend, landlocked and hating every minute of it.
Fished the last two days right slap in the middle of lightning storm central. Yesterday managed to catch one Tarpon between squals, the day before we had a storm set in and last 5 hours basically without moving. Sat at one of the local marinas with my charter trying to wait it out, to hope for them to have a shot at catching a Tarpon.......well the storm roared on eventually it was 5:00 pm., now with tarpon fishing put up on the shelf, I asked if they would be interested in fishing that evening in hopes of catching a "old drum". Giant Red Fish. Although it was still kind of early for them, I had heard of some reports this past week, so here we go. On the way switching from tarpon to drum rigs. We run about 10 miles and set up anchor on one of my favorite places. One hour went by, nothing, two hours went by, a few skates and bluefish, however the third hour arrived and WWWWWHHHHAAAAAAMMMMMOOOO, five on. That's right they were there and chewing. In about 30 min. we caught 9 redfish that were between 35-45 lbs. They said they had enough and we ran in, man what a day saver, and an early showing for the drum, they usually start getting fired up the middle of Aug and Sept. That is when we have those 40-50 fish days. Well just like the Tarpon so far this year, I guess there is going to be plenty of them. Anyway, putting the rain and lightening aside, fishing was good considering the elements. Thank you. Capt. Brian Extreme Measures Charters.

Capt. Brian :
Are your tarpon rigs from your Big drum rigs as specified in the above post? I.E. circle hooks vs. "J" hooks?
Been cathcing the full moon of August for some years now and have had good success with the drum. Would like to have some Tarpon by catch while we are soaking bait. My rigs are 16/0 mustad cirlces snelled to 1-2" of 200 lb mono and swiveled with palomar to 80# wind ons on 4500 baitrunners 20-30 spinning stand up and TLD 25 stand ups to whip 'em quick. I know that is going to be luck of the draw for the tarpon since we anchor up.
Good to see you on here. Last time I saw you was the first weekend of Turkey season a few years back at Seawater helping my friends unload some blackfin, wahoo and a dolphin off the old 36' delta "Delta Dawn"
