Hatteras Offshore Fishing - Seeking Crew for Overnighters & Day Trips

    Greetings!

We're headed back to Hatteras on 7/13 and plan on fishing as much as possible between 7/15 & 7/26, inclusive.

We've got a number of old fishing buddies coming down on various dates, however, we have a lot of dates with slots available.

If you can afford to chip in for fuel, it would be appreciated, if not, give me a shout anyway and as long as we've got room on the boat, we're always interested in making new friends who are really into offshore fishing.

During my last stay, the weather didn't cooperate and we had to bag a couple of scheduled overnighters. We're keen to get in a few this time.

Most of our days during the last trip wound up being devoted to maintance & rigging chores, but we did manage one day trip with a great crew where we had a lot of action with a decent number of mahi in the box; albeit, we had a ton of missed hits to include wahoo bites where the baits were cut off a fraction of an inch behind the hook.

As before, the basic game plan is to run way south to begin with, do the trolling thing all day long and then set up for swordfish and maybe do some chunkin’ for tuna out in the deep at night while drifting north. Worst case, we should hook up some big ole pelagic sharks. Then we'll get on the troll at first light and fish until 1:00 or 2:00 PM and get back to the dock at a reasonable hour the next day.

Of course, we'll also schedule day trips, as needed.

As always, This offer is intended for fishermen/women whose discretionary funds are being pinched severly by the current economy.

If you can afford to charter one of the full time professional charter boats in Hatteras, by all means do so. God knows their business is hurting as badly as most and they need the revenue more than I need to go fishing.

If you genuinely cannot afford a professional charter at this point, feel free to give me a shout if you are interested.

    Best regards,

    Update ....

We've been doing boat maintenance and tackle riggin for the last few days waiting for the seas to lay down.

I've got a crew of 4 who are hopeful we can fish Monday, 7/19 and/or Tuesday 7/20.

We've still got room for two more.

    Also, 7/22 & 7/23 are wide open.

Lastly, we've got room for 4 on 7/24.

FYI, there’s a nice sailfish bite on with a smattering of with white marlin being released. Also, decent numbers of wahoo and plenty of larger mahi are being caught.

Feel free to give me a shout at 215-837-3311 if you are interested.

    Greetings!

We're headed back to Hatteras on 8/2 and plan on fishing as much as possible between 8/4 & 8/10, inclusive.

During my last stay, the weather didn't cooperate and we had to bag 8 trips. Thus, the time was spent doing boat & tackle maintenance. This time, we're keen to get in on the decent sailfish, wahoo & dolphin bite that's goin' on.

We still have a number of slots available during the period.

If you're interested, please give me a shout via phone or email.

    Best regards,

    G'day folks!

    Here we go again!

I'm headed back to Hatteras on 8/20 for a week to 10 days, as always, weather permitting.

I've got trips booked for 8/21 and 8/23.

I've got slots open on 8/21 and am wide open for 8/24 and going forward.

We raised billfish on every trip the last time I was down. This time I expect to send some of them on their way with tags sticking out of their backs.

If you're interested give me a shout, if the spirit moves you!

    Best regards,

As long as the weather holds up, I’ll be heading back to Hatteras on Wednesday, 9/8.

I’ll do some maintenance on 9/9 and hope to fish as much as possible from 9/10 forward.

As always, simply give me a shout if you are interested.

    Greetings folks!

We only got to fish 1 day the last time I was down, but I did get a lot more maintenance work accomplished.

The day we fished the NOAA weather people got it wrong and I wound up fishing the lumpiest day yet with this vessel. The wind was supposed to turn light and variable out of the SE and it wound up blowing 15-20 all day long out of the NNW. The edge of the stream was a real bear with a constant stream of 5 footers with a short period. The boat stood up just fine, but we all got to stretch our sea legs pretty well.

We did alright with 15 or so decent bailers caught on the troll.

We lost a nice gaffer that probably pushed 30 # which jumped off the gaff after I nailed it squarely through the head. I’d never had that happen before and learned an irritating lesson from it.

We also had another decent gaffer break off after dumping at least 1/3 of the spool on a 30 # class outfit. I’m still scratching my head over that one as the line broke pretty far down in the reel. Must have picked up an abrasion somewhere, I guess.

Both those fish were hooked on Islanders running on a downrigger.

Then to add insult to injury, we had a fish just smoke a 50 # class outfit and had the double line break just above the wind-on swivel. The line wasn’t curled so the knot didn’t give. Best guess is that the Sproul swivel had a defective sharp edge; albeit I always test them hard by hand before I put them in the water. Grrrrr ….

Lastly, we had a couple of sailfish come up and look at the baits, but neither of them were hungry enough to take a swipe at a bait. Grrrr ….., again.

Weather permitting I’m headed back to Hatteras on 9/22 and plan on fishing 9/24 forward; weather permitting, of course.

I still need 2 or 3 people for 9/24 and the rest of the days or wide open.

Just give me a shout if you’re interested.

    Best regards,
