Thursday, January 06, 2011 - 8:42 am:
Reports are coming in that kayakers are landing into the stripers right off the beach around the Avalon Pier area. The word on Oregon Inlet is they are around the sea buoy
January 07, 2011 - 9:44 am:
Reports are coming in of bait hitting the beach between Avon and Buxton. we have also been told that bait was hitting the beaches around Oregon Inlet. Not too mention the fact that, dory fisherman setting nets from the beach 1/4 north of the boiler on Pea Island and got into the stripers!

There's been a lack of reports due mainly to the lack of folks fishing. As soon as we hear something...we'll keep you posted.
January 12, 2011 - 4:00 pm:
Reports have come in that yearling and puppy drum have been very abundant around the airport in Ocracoke. Some reports were fish on at every cast.
As for strippers, many birds have been working right off the shore in the Rodanthe and Pea Island areas but still just a bit far for surf fishing. Hopefully they'll get closer
