Ok surf fishing fans. Five of us had our annual men's surf fishing convention on HI from Saturday through yesterday. We fished ramp 34 the first 3 days with the wind NW and the point yesterday with the south wind and the ocean like a bathtub. We caught nothing yesterday except 20 or so 1-2 pound blues and 5 drum between 25 and 28 inches in the morning.....but the three days before............WOW the best trip we have been on in since we started this annual trip 6 years ago.
Here is the total tally: (we lost half of our guys on Sunday b/c they had to work
38 Drum between 18 and 31 inches (most over 25 inches) (two red tags $$$)
2 specs, 1.6 - 1.85 lbs
2 Flounder, 1 keeper
1 Round Head
and too many blues to keep track (all 1-2 lbs)
We started taking pictures of the drum and then decided to stop taking pictures as the action was pretty fast and furious. Here is a sampling of the fish as well as a few shots of a typical lunch on the beach and some sights from the point.
