Haddrells Point tackle and supply 11-11
shrimp Baiting season begins Sept 10th @ 12:00pm! Don't miss out on a lowcountry tradition, and we have all the supplies you could possibly need for a few nights out on the Harbor.
Inshore:
If you have not splashed your boat and/or wet a line the past couple weeks, you have certainly been missing out! Our fall trout bite is in full swing, and we are finally seeing some good size fish in the 18-22" range. Most have been targeting the trout with artificials, such as DOA shrimp and ZMAN soft baits, the new Ba-Donk-A-Donk SS series and they will still certainly inhale a live shrimp. Best reports have come from shell rakes and creek mouths in 3-6ft of water. Reds are chomping at the bit almost everywhere you turn. Docks, rock piles, low tide flats, etc. have all been holding fantastic numbers of redfish. Reds have been very aggresively feeding lately and are taking almost anything from live shrimp, to Gulp! baits, Zman crabz, etc. This past weekend most likely marked the end of our "Tailing Tides" for the year, but great sight fishing can and will still be had on shallow mud flats around low tide. Sheepshead have turned wide open around almost an bridge, rock pile, or nearshore reef. A couple pints of fiddlers and some mosquito hooks should be all you need for these convicts!
Offshore:
Bottom bumping for black sea bass time! Though the wind has been blowing lately, a few short weather windows have allowed for some anglers to slip out and do some bottom bumping. Great reports of black sea bass and triggers have been coming in from 55-90ft of water using squid and cigar minnows. Still hearing reports of some grouper being found using butterfly jigs from 90-180ft. For those not completely up to date on bottom fishing regs, be aware that Vermillion snapper can not be kept as of Nov 1 for their seasonal closure.
Personal Report - 10/07/2010:
Hunting has turned wide open with the cooler temps moving in. Bucks have been chasing does and establishing their territories lately, having seen two mature bucks lock up just this past weekend. Stuck a nice buck with my bow wednesday morning but lost the trail after 4.5 hours unfortunately. Did however redeem myself by putting a perfect bow shot on a nice doe wednesday evening. At least I did prove to myself again that I CAN make the shot when I keep my focus!

Scott broke the ice for 2010 Saturday evening by taking a great cull buck, weighing 126 pounds 2.5 year old cowhorn.
