OTHERWISE IT IS CATCH & RELEASE ..........WE HAVE GOTTEN PRETTY GOOD AT THE TAG-RELEASE THING WITH THE GIANTS......BETWEEN BRIAN AND MYSELF FISHING TOGETHER FOR FIVE YEARS AND ON SEPERATE RIGS SINCE '96..........I THINK IT WOULD BE SAFE TO SAY ....TOGETHER ....WE RELEASED 2,000 PLUS GIANTS IN THE 200-600 POUND RANGE

I'LL EVEN LET YOU CLIMB OUT OF THE CHAIR TO RELEASE YOUR OWN GIANT

Thats cheap. I just got a note from Pete, broadcast to fishing club, and he wants about that much, plus the cost to fill up the tank at the end of the day.

paul, i wanted to do the same thing. . . but i would only do it if i plan to kill the fish. The most you can handle on standup is an 80w, and some of these brutes and tear them apart. I know the Run-Off uses 130 bent butts, as well as most of the charter boats down there. they can get the fish in quickly and released healthy.

We both were using the Braid Power Play harness. using a short stroker Braid Power Play rod (4 feet 8 inches) with Penn 70s and 80s.
We caught 11 giants ranging from perhaps 300 pounds to well over 500 pounds (97 inches). These fish were all caught and released, as we participated in the Tag A Giant program which is operational in the waters off Moorehead City. With the exception of one fish, all were brought to the boat in less than 26 minutes. Some were brought in in as little as 7 minutes. The big 97 incher took an hour to bring in, but only because it had been "leadered" six times in our efforts to pass the fish to the tag boat.
