I grew up fishing coastal waters of Georgia (wuz 15 yrs. old before I found out Damn Yankee wuz two words.)

Seriously, check Georgia's coastline and the Gulf Stream. You can hardly find anywhere further away. There is some offshore/nearshore fishing for blackfin tuna and king mackeral, but for an avid offshore fisherman, it's tough to beat the Cape Hatteras proximity to Gulf Stream (30 mi.?), unless it's S. Florida (8 mi.?)

Boat: 248 Mako , 1987
Home Port: Savannah GA
Best Catch: My wife, but I won't say her weight!
Occupation: US Army
Cool Dam yankee

My boat is named the Dam Yankee, The Army moved me to Savannah when I am not In Iraq. But I'm gonna retire there (Savannah not Iraq).

Very good Inshore Fishing in the Savannah Area. There are near shore reefs all over the place starting about 6 miles from the coast and the Savannah Snapper banks about 30 Miles out are always holding great fish. Snapper, grouper, Shark, etc.

In season the King bite can be off on and on.

It is a LONG 60 miles to the Gulf Stream.

Nice though cause if you are like me and dont mind a little cool weather that the southern boys call winter you can fish all year and NO SNOW.

Rob at www.sharkfighter.com and while its not my website she has great info on savannah fishing at www.missjudycharters.com

Appreciate the info. It`s over 75 miles to hit the gulf off NJ, so 60 isn`t so bad. No Snow is another reason i am leaving
