Inshore:
With several nights coming with lows in the upper 20's, we are seeing our inshore water temps gradually continuing to fall. When it comes to redfish, this is a sure sign that the reds will begin to school up in larger numbers along shallow flats around low tide. This is often the perfect time to do some sight casting, as well as present a fly to them Scented ZMAN jerkshads, Gulp! baits, live minnows, or a copperhead fly are all good choices to put in front of a shallow water school of reds. Even though water temps are falling, the trout bite continues to be strong currently. Even better, we have been hearing solid numbers of larger trout in the 18-22inch range. Where as a week ago the trout were holding in 3-6ft of water, you may want to push out just a little deeper now, around that 5-8ft of water range DOA shrimp, live shrimp, ZMAN's smokey shad paddle tail, or a Ba-Donk-A-Donk SS series are all good choices to tangle with some specks. Sheepshead are also congregating in good numbers on structure right now, and as always a fiddler or a small live shrimp should do the trick.
Offshore:
A handful of good weather days allowed a few boats to sneak out, including a few that made it out to do some trolling. Heard several good reports of wahoo holding on the ledge, with as many as 6 in one day being reported, as well as a few sails and white marlin coming from out a little deeper in the 400-600ft range. Bottom fishing for triggerfish and large black sea bass has been outstanding in 75-110ft of water along good stretches of live bottom.
