Inshore:High evening tides the past week allowed many inshore anglers to get out in the grass and chase some tailers. While we heard from numerous anglers that the fish were fairly finicky, we also heard most were seeing large numbers of fish....the trick is just getting them to bite! A Gulp! jerkshad rigged weedless is hard to beat in these scenarios, but don't overlook a ZMAN swimmerZ or small gold spoon either. Early morning Topwater action is heating back up with bluefish, reds, and some trout the first two hours of daylight. Don't forget..."Let 'em Spawn, Let 'em Live" when it comes to the trout this year until we ge into the fall! Cut and live baits fished around docks at low water have also been producing solid reports of redfish. Sheepshead reports have been a little on the hit and miss side, but the better reports have still been coming from the jetties as well bridge pilings in 6-10ft of water on fiddler crabs. Spanish have been showing up along the front beaches, as well as behind castle pickney late in the evening.
Offshore:While the dolphin bite has slowed somewhat now that we are entering mid-late June, the quality of fish has been somewhat of an upgrade. Fish in the 25-35# range have been common. And don't give up on the number of dolphin quite yet either. Southeastern Florida is seeing another nice wave of fish come through currently, meaning we should see another good shot of them sometime around next week. The billfish bite continues to be pretty strong, with good numbers of white marlin in the mix as well as the usual sailfish. And keep your eyes open for the man in blue, we are still getting solid numbers of blue marlin being hooked up. We have also seen a slight pick-up in the wahoo bite as well, with a monster 93# wahoo being weighed in here just yesterday. Bottom fishing has been producing good reports of vermillions coming from 80-110ft, as well as some good triggerfish reports coming in from 60-90ft. The Tailwalker king tournament this past week produced some of the better king reports as of late, with the best numbers of fish coming from around 100ft of water, but still some big fish being caught right in the Charleston shipping channel.
