Talking Charleston on the INSURE!

Last week I got a call from Tom Byrne inviting me to head down to his boat "Insure" in Charleston, SC, for some sailfishing . Well, I checked with LadyAngler, and she told me to go, that she would cover the shop, What a wife!!!

So Saturday morning Tom picked me up, and Jonas and Bob Barbarro (from the boat Badger) and we left Philly airport and headed south. Many who have visited the shop in last couple years, have met Charles"CHILL5115", well he has moved up in the world, he's now the mate on the Insure. Well Charles picked us up at the airport and we hit a Mexican restraunt and the to the boat for some beers and bed.
Left the dock on Sunday at 4am and headed for the grounds. We raised 3 sails, and Bob got the release on one.

Tom worked his butt of trying to find the fish, but there were only 2 other boats in the area, and I don't think they even saw one. We got back to the dock and grilled some dinner and watched the Eagles embarass themselves.

Monday we left the dock at 3:30am and headed a little further south, first thing in the morning we had a knock down on the bridge rod and Tom hooked the fish and handed it down to Bob. While we were clearing rods, Jonas was prospecting and raised number 2. GAME ON, FATHER AND SON DOUBLE HEADER

Tom and Charles handled the fish great and we had 2 quick releases.

Sadly, nothing else for the day. Back to the boat for some grillin and chillin, with some steaks and beer. Then an early morning departure for airport and home.

All in all, an outstanding trip with some great people.

Thanks to Tom for the hospitality, laughs, and shammying lessons.

Jim Byrne also thanks for hospitality, shame you weren't on this trip.

Charles great work, your becoming one hell of mate!!

Bob and Jonas it was blast fishing with you!

Anytime she wants
But she keeps planning romantic type trips for us
Now we're going to Charleston in January after the Henry's show

How often do you make it to charleston?

I do not know the boat you speak of, but this past weekend was a good weekend for the sails. I was out sunday but did not see but one other boat all day, and it definately was that nice one you were on.

Thanks for the pictures though.
