Carolina Time Report

Well it has been a while since my last report but here goes. Lets start with the REELIN FOR RESEARCH tournament there was over $100,000.00 raised for these kids & the fishing heated up just in time. We had our same ole rowdy crowd again this year we may not have weighed in a fish but they had a large time as always. We had a box full of Mahi but none big enough to win. We left early Tuesday morning headed for Hatteras to fish the Hatteras Village Open. Day one was a butt kicker with 14 foot seas and 20-25 knots of wind to go with it and the only thing we had to show for it was a pulled of Spear Fish that was just about the size of the bait he bit. We took our lay day Thursday & fished Friday only to see one very uncooperative fish. Our last day was Saturday and we finally came tight on a 300# fish but as luck would have it she came un hooked so we licked our wounds and came home Saturday night.
Well today was a new day we had the boss fishing again with us today after a long tournament week & we scored big on all the BIG Mahi you could want in 20 Fathoms of water. We pushed on out to the deep looking for the elusive Marlin that had avoided us all week and boy did we find her. Just as we just getting relaxed & letting our guard down big explosion on short rigger and it was game on!! Big Hole Bent Pole!!! After a quick battle Garred grabbed the leader on a 350 - 400 pound fish and made a clean release on her. I must say it was nice to go catching instead of fishing today. I will try to get some pictures & video up of her tomorrow. We have a very busy 2 months ahead of us but I will try to keep the reports up to date.

Great report Shane, we are looking for mahi later this week when it calms down out there. Would the Big Rock or areas South of there be better for the gaffer mahi?
Sorry you didn't get a fish in the Tourney, but it sounds like you had fund and a lot of money was raised for the kids!
