7-27-10 OI meat slam
Steve Owens and friends from PA were with us today. They have fished aboard Point Runner many times before while vacationing on the Outer Banks. Chip earned a state citation for landing a 42 pound wahoo. We also caught a fat yellowfin tuna and a couple of dozen dolphin around some float. Thanks guys, enjoy the mixed grill and fish tacos.

Fishing Report 7/27
Weather was nice with temps in the high 80,s with a little breeze out of the ENE.

We had some really good Pompano catches in the Frisco area. We weighed in a few citations. There were some scattered Sea Mullet, Croakers, Blues, Spanish, and Flounder from Avon to Hatteras.

Inshore boats had good Spanish and Blues.

Offshore had good Dolphin along with some nice catches of Wahoo, Yellowfin and Blackfin

Tonight Kate and I got home from Kentucky and Billy had another good day. Many thanks to Steve Sanders for convincing his crew to fish with us this year instead of out of Va Beach or Cape May!! And he is the King because the crew had an all day pick on yellowfin between 50 and 72 pounds (thanks for sending some fish home qwith Maxwell!). 10 yellowfin in the box - one citation at 72 for Christopher Bianchini and one more for his angling gifts on a sailfish realease. Way to go Chris!!

Took quite a few photos of this blue jumping around the boat. Most of them came out as splashes with a slow trigger finger. Caught this one just right. Fishing has still been a little slow. Each day there have been a few billfish around, some yellowfins, wahoo, and dolphin. We did catch a limit of dolphin on Friday and were glad to see them with the weather conditions. Yesterday was good for the fleet. We were not out but boats returned with dolphin and tuna. We will be leaving early next week for the Ocean City tournament. A couple of weeks later we fish the tournament in Virginia Beach. Other trips keep us busy until the last couple of weeks in August. We do have opennings if you are interested in trying to hit our prime season for billfish. Last year was one to remember and hopefully this year will produce some more memories. Thanks!

We caught a couple of blues last week. The first one was about 350 pounds and caught on white marlin tackle. It was a good challenge on the light tackle but did not leave much time for a photo. This was one of two we had chances at on Wednesday. This fish needed a little reviving but swam off looking good. A few extra moments hopfully allowed the fish to survive. Thanks!

Tuesday Fishing Report
Bluesfish ruled the day with a sprinkling of Spanish Macks. Another Bluefish bite at the Point this evening just before dark and just got a report that the bite is still on. Sea Mullet and lots of Croaker on bottom rigs today. A 50 inch Drum from the beaches in Avon. Trout, Flounder, and Spanish Mackeral in the Sound - Grumpy.
