11/07/10: We have been having very strong NW winds for the last week and this has all but shut down the offshore fishing. I am sure there are still wahoo and some blackfin tuna available when the winds and seas will let you get out to them. Closer to the beach the king mackerel are still on the eastside of the Cape Lookout shoals around the East Rock and Atlas Tanker. Here again the winds have been very restrictive on the days that you can get over to that area. The low pressure system that has been over us for a while should be moving out the first of this week. The winds will be returning to the north and fishing for the albacore along the beach should be picking up once again. The speckled trout fishing has been just as hot as it can get. There are plenty of the just under the 14 inch trout speckled trout everywhere you go. There are still a good number of specs in the 2 to 3 lb range to be had as well. The red drum fishing is very good as well. Gray trout are soing well in the shipping channels and around the rock jetties and along the shackleford banks in 20 to 40 ft . of water.
