Fishing Report
by Capt. Joe Shute

10-09-2011: Capt. Joe's now has a new page on the web-site. "Capt's comments and Events". . The wind continues! We have been experiencing a strong northeaster that has now turned into a very strong east wind and is predicted to blow hard out of the east for the next 3 days. That is pretty much going to shut down the offshore fishing and even the fishing right along the beach fishing. Oh well, unfortunately we can't control the winds. Luckily the inshore bottom fishing has been very good. Yesterday I had a bottom fishing trip and had a very good day. We ended up catching spots, hogfish and some very nice gray trout. Talking to other people fishing there were good catches of spot around the Beaufort area, and the gray trout were caught in the Beaufort Inlet shipping channel and at the rock jetty behind Shackleford. There were some speckled trout caught back in the Haystacks as well as the North River. Some flounder were caught around the port wall in the turning basin. The Spanish mackerel and bluefish bite this weekend was slower than usual. There were king mackerel caught up around the Cape Lookout rock jetty area.
