01-05-2011: Capt. Joe Shute's Bait & Tackle would like to wish everyone a happy and successful new year. Rumors of stripers showing up on the Cape Lookout shoals have been comfirmed. I know of one boat that was fishing on the eastside of the shoals and they landed 3 stripers around 30 inches each. They were caught trolling in 20 feet of water with Manns Stretch 25's in chartreuse color. Hopefully this is just the start for the striper fishing this January. There was also one bluefin tuna landed yesterday. Red drum are still being caught around the Cape Lookout rock jetty. I hope to see some of you at the Raleigh Bass and Saltwater Expo this weekend, that is if you are not fishing.
