Fishing Report
by Capt. Joe Shute

12-10-2011: Capt. Joe's now has a new page on the web-site. "Capt's comments and Events". .Been a little bit slow this week. The inshore fishing for the speckled trout is still doing pretty good. There are still good numbers of specs, but there are still lots of smaller fish. We had some good reports of nice specs caught inside the sound in North River and the Haystacks as well as out around Shackleford Banks and up at Cape Lookut Jetty. There have been black drum and some flounder mixed in. There are still good numbers of blowfish and some sea mullet both along Shackleford and up around The Hook of Cape Lookout. The offshore fishing has been dominated by false albacore lately. There were nice blackfin tuna caught yesterday and a few wahoo, but you had to catch 5 albacore for every tuna you found. Hopefully the albacore will move inshore and stay away from the schools of blackfin. We are still waiting for the first confirmed bluefin tuna. Everything looks good, bait water temperature there is sjut not very many boats looking right at the moment. Hopefully this will change soon.
