8-1-11 ...... MONDAY ...... COOLER THIS WEEK! ......

The 12th ANNUAL BUDDY PELLETIER LONGBOARD CLASSIC was a great success; in spite of the 105* HEAT INDEX and small waves! ............. Special thanks to everyone (especially MIKE HOLLIMAN and LISA PELLETIER HARTMAN) who attended and we hope to have the "BUDDY" return next year! ............. I was amazed at the sportsmanship and cleanliness that this group displayed; they are definitely great STEWARDS of the CRYSTAL COAST! ........... Also, thanks to ERNIE DAVIS and his crew for the successful BARBECUE BENEFIT for the JIMMY COLE FUNERAL FUND! .............. They sold over 325 lbs. of BARBECUE and we really appreciate all of the support and donations that make BIP the most wonderful place on earth! ............. Unfortunately, FISHING hasn't been quite so WONDERFUL! ............. We are seeing SPANISH MACKEREL, SEA MULLET, FLOUNDER, and SPADEFISH, with some sporadic BLUEFISH and SPOTS .......... nothing to write home about, but the water temperature is a balmy 83* (thanks Dr. Bogus!) ............. Congratulations to C.J. JOHNSON (Danville, NC)--4 lb. 1 oz. SPANISH MACKEREL .............. and DUSTIN HOWARD (Kinston, NC)--1 lb. 2 oz. SPANISH MACKEREL ............ As the HURRICANE SEASON progresses, it's time to keep an eye on the CARRIBEAN........... It looks like EMILY might be the one to watch this week, the projections are definitely heading in this direction! ............ We should be problem free for at least a week, but it really is awfully hot! ............ It's hard to believe E.I. is still one of the coolest spots in EASTERN NC! .............
